Port Famine: The English Cemetery
Here lie the remains of
Captain Pringle Stokes, R. N., Commander
and active hydrographer of H. M. S. Beagle.
He spent two years navigating our
coasts from the Strait of Magellan
to the Gulf of Penas.
Exhausted by the deprivations of the expedition,
the bad weather and the constant
dangerous situations, he passed away on
the 12th of August, 1828.
